At the intersection of Manningham and Bulleen roads, we’re building the new Manningham Road interchange ramps, that will shift 14,700 vehicles each day from Bulleen Road and into North East Link. As well as creating more space for new cultural wetlands and walking and cycling paths
The simpler interchange layout avoids the historic River Red Gum on Bridge Street, reduces impacts on Bulleen Art & Garden and opens more land for future development. Ramps at Manningham Road will connect you to the Eastern Freeway and ramps at Thompsons Road will connect you to the M80 Ring Road.
Over the past few months, we’ve been installing the tunnel walls needed for the tunnel boring machines (TBMs) as they make their way down from Watsonia.
Further east, we’ve completed demolition and earthworks, relocated underground services, and built new lanes behind barriers to prepare for the next stage of tunnelling works to construct the Manningham interchange ramps.
With works required at ground level, there will be changes to traffic movements from 2024 to ensure motorists can still travel through the area. We’ll keep you informed about these traffic changes well before they happen.
