Overview

We’re building Victoria’s longest twin road tunnels, which will be 6.5 km long and run from Watsonia to Bulleen. The design focuses on protecting homes and sensitive environmental areas, including the Yarra River.

Tunnelling works are underway after the launch of our two tunnel boring machines (TBMs) in 2024 from the 40m deep launch box area in Watsonia.

We are also building the new Greensborough Road boulevard from Watsonia to Rosanna, creating 5 MCGs of new community parklands at Borlase Reserve in Yallambie and building a new pedestrian Eel (Iuk) bridge over Lower Plenty Road connecting Borlase Reserve and River Gum Walk, which will improve walking and cycling access to the North East Link tunnels.

In Bulleen we’re building the Manningham Road interchange, with a new wetland and Indigenous cultural precinct along the banks of the Yarra River and are currently upgrading Bulleen Road with safer access to the schools, playing fields and sports clubs, a tunnel ventilation structure, the new Yarra Link green bridge and Eastern Freeway interchange.
