Disruptions

We’re completing the M80 Ring Road, delivering new lanes through to Plenty Road and a seamless connection to the North East Link tunnels – taking 15,000 cars and trucks a day off Greensborough Road and giving local roads back to local people.

What’s happening

During construction, you may notice changes to some of the roads you are familiar with, particularly on and around Greensborough Highway, Greensborough Bypass and the M80 Ring Road.

This may include road and lane closures, reduced speeds, access changes and detours. There may also be changes to walking and cycling paths.

Plenty Road entry and exit ramp closures

Plenty Road entry and exit ramps will be closed over multiple weekends from July to October.

M80 Ring Road Altona-bound exit ramp to Plenty Road closed from:

10pm, Friday 21 August to 5am, Monday 24 August.

Detour in place via Dalton Road and Settlement Road. Delays of up to 15 minutes expected.

M80 Ring Road Plenty Road Greensborough-bound entry ramp closed from:

9pm, Friday 28 August to 5am, Monday 31 August
9pm, Friday 4 September to 5am, Monday 7 September
9pm, Friday 18 September to 5am, Monday 21 September
9pm, Friday 2 October to 5am, Monday 5 October.

Detour in place via Plenty Road, Grimshaw Street and Greensborough Bypass. Delays of up to 10 minutes expected.

Grimshaw Street closure and Greensborough Bypass

Grimshaw Street will be Closed from 9pm, Friday 11 September to 5am, Monday 14 September, in both directions between:

Watsonia Road and Greensborough Bypass
Greensborough Bypass and Greensborough Road.

Detour via:

Greensborough Bypass, Plenty Road and Grimshaw Street,
Greensborough Bypass, Diamond Creek Road, Main Street, The Circuit and Grimshaw Street.

Delays of up to 30 minutes expected.

Greensborough Bypass impacts

During this time, Greensborough Bypass will have lane closures in both directions on Saturday and Sunday, 6am to 9pm each day, as well as a full overnight closure between Watsonia Road and the M80 interchange.

Greensborough Bypass will be closed northbound between Nell Street and the M80 Interchange, from:

9pm, Friday 11 September to 7am, Saturday 12 September
9pm, Saturday 12 September to 8am, Sunday 13 September
9pm, Sunday 13 September to 5am, Sunday 14 September.

Greensborough Bypass closed southbound between Nell Street and the M80 Interchange, from:

10pm, Friday 11 September to 6am, Saturday 12 September
10pm, Saturday 12 September to 8am, Sunday 13 September
9pm, Sunday 13 September to 5am, Sunday 14 September.

Detour via Lower Plenty Road, Para Road, Main Street and Diamond Creek Road.

Bus Route impacts

Bus Route 902

During this time, Bus Route 902 will operate via the M80 Ring Road between Greensborough Station and Keon Park Station.

This route will not be servicing stops along Settlement Road, Plenty Road and Grimshaw Street.

Commuters seeking to travel on Bus Route 902 are advised to take the temporary shuttle bus running between Greensborough Station and Keon Park Station before transferring. This shuttle will run every 30 minutes but will not service bus stops along Grimshaw Street between the Greensborough Bypass and Henry Street.

Signs will be installed at existing bus stops to notify passengers in advance of changes to bus routes and alternative stops. Please ask your bus driver for your stop when boarding the bus if you have further questions.

Bus Route 566

During this time, Bus Route 566 will not service Grimshaw Street between Frye Street and Greensborough Plaza (both directions). Commuters are advised to use:

the nearest bus stops along Macorna Street and Grimshaw Street to travel on Bus Route 566
the temporary shuttle bus at stops along Grimshaw Street to travel to Greensborough Plaza.
