Overview
Plenty Road Upgrade is happening in two stages. The upgrade will provide better access to jobs, schools, shops and parks.
Construction partner Decmil is delivering the project, with major construction on Stage 1 completed in July 2019 and Stage 2 due to be complete by mid 2021.
Stage 1
Stage 1 included:
- adding a new lane in each direction between McKimmies Road and Bush Boulevard
- upgrading five intersections, including Childs Road and Centenary Drive
- installing traffic lights at Rivergum and Mayfield Drives
- widening the existing footpath and create a new shared walking and cycling path
- building on-road cyclist lanes
- installing 10,000 metres of safety barriers.
Work on Stage 1 started in March 2018 and was completed in mid-2019.
Stage 2
Stage 2 between Bush Boulevard and Bridge Inn Road, involves:
- widening Plenty Road from 4 to 6 lanes between Bush Boulevard and Riverdale Boulevard
- widening Plenty Road from 2 to 4 lanes between Riverdale Boulevard and Bridge Inn Road
- upgrading 12 major intersections, including Bridge Inn Road, Waterview Drive and Tangelo Drive
- improving cycling and walking facilities.
Major works have commenced on Stage 2. The project is expected to be complete in mid-2021.
