We’re improving road safety and traffic flow in Bacchus Marsh with two major upgrades
The $178.6 million project to upgrade Plenty Road includes adding a lane in each direction between McKimmies Road and Bridge Inn Road. The upgrade will provide better access to jobs, schools, shops and parklands.
Construction partner Decmil delivered the project, with construction on stage 1 completed in in July 2019 and stage 2 by mid 2021.
The first stage upgraded the section between McKimmies Road to Bush Boulevard in Mill Park. It includes
- widening the road with a new lane in each direction
- upgrading five major intersections, including Childs Road and Centenary Drive
- keeping Rivergum Drive safe by installing traffic lights
- building safer lanes for cyclists introducing safety barriers.
The second stage will upgrade the section between Bush Boulevard in Mill Park to Bridge Inn Road in Mernda. It includes:
- widening the road from four to six lanes between Bush Boulevard and Riverdale Boulevard
- widening the road from two to four lanes between Riverdale Boulevard and Bridge Inn Road
- upgrading cycling and walking paths
- upgrading 12 major intersections, including Bridge Inn Road.
Fixing the congestion commuters face daily when travelling from Mill Park to Mernda
