Ballarat-Carngham Road Upgrade

Overview

We’ve undertaken initial planning to investigate an upgrade of Ballarat-Carngham Road between Dyson Drive and Wiltshire Lane to improve safety and cater for population growth.

As part of our investigations, we looked at options to:

• add more lanes
• install traffic lights for pedestrians
• upgrade intersections
• build cycling and walking paths to improve connectivity.

Planning and development

Planning work included traffic modelling and environmental investigations. This helped us understand environmental and social impacts, develop design options, and confirm scope and costs of different options.

We’ve completed our planning and development work, which will help to inform future planning.

Community feedback

From 12 May to 1 June 2025, we asked for community feedback via Engage Victoria to help inform planning.

Feedback provided important local insights that helped us to understand community views on safety, traffic flow and what to consider in our planning.
