Overview
We’re progressing planning for the upgrade of Donnybrook Road between Mickleham Road, Mickleham and Epping Road, Woodstock.
As part of our planning, we’re investigating solutions to reduce travel times, improve safety and cater for population growth and increased vehicle movements.
Options being explored include:
- adding more road lanes
- upgrading intersections
- upgrading the Hume Freeway Interchange
- removing the Donnybrook Road level crossing
- building cycling and walking paths to improve connectivity.
Planning
Planning work includes traffic modelling, engineering designs, ease of construction assessments, economic modelling, and environmental investigations. Our planning work is building on work previously undertaken by the Department of Transport and Planning.
This work will give us a complete picture of the area, allow us to understand environmental and social impacts, develop project options, and determine costs of different options to help inform government decision-making.
We’ll continue to keep the community informed as our work progresses and we will be seeking community feedback later this year, to help inform our planning.
This project is currently in the planning phase and will be used to inform government decisions on funding for future upgrades along Donnybrook Road. We expect our initial planning work to be complete in late 2025.
Technical investigations
To help inform our planning, we’re completing roadside technical investigations. At times, we may need to implement traffic control measures, including temporary lane closures, stop/slow traffic management and reduced speeds. We’ll keep traffic disruption to a minimum and avoid busy periods.
