From early November until the end of the year, crews will complete final construction activities on the upgraded intersection including:
- lay the final layer of asphalt and complete line marking
- finish drainage and underground utility works
- complete walking and cycling path connections
- install public lighting and landscaping.
Current and upcoming works
We’ll work during the day and at night to complete these activities safely while reducing impacts on traffic.
Works may change due to weather. We’ll provide updates about significant traffic changes through SMS, email and on-road electronic signs.
Nearby residents and businesses may notice periods of noise, dust and vibration. We’ll monitor our work and take practical steps to reduce disruption where possible.
We’ll maintain access to homes and businesses and continue to coordinate closely with emergency services throughout the works. We’ll also maintain access for people walking and cycling, with signed detours in place when needed.
Temporary changes along Northern Highway and Watson Street will include:
- 40km/h speed limits on Northern Highway and Watson Street near the intersection, and on Windham Street near Watson Street
- 60km/h speed limit on Northern Highway between Macsfield Road and Duke Street from 6am to 9pm while we work
- short-term parking, footpath and pedestrian crossing closures.
Please allow extra travel time and follow reduced speed limits, traffic signs and directions from traffic controllers.
