Community invited to celebrate new Ferris Road bridge

Traffic is now flowing over the new Ferris Road in Melton, creating safer and more reliable journeys for the local community.

To celebrate the opening of the road bridge and removal of the dangerous and congested level crossing, locals are invited to attend a free community event at Cobblebank Stadium on Sunday 30 August.

The event will be held from 9am until noon at 14 Stadium Drive, Cobblebank and feature food trucks, coffee, and children’s entertainment.

Following the opening of the road bridge in July, crews recently worked around the clock while trains weren’t running to remove the redundant rail infrastructure and signals at the former level crossing.

Throughout August, crews will continue to finish landscaping and lighting works in the area.

Melton will be level crossing free in September, with the removal of dangerous and congested level crossings at nearby Coburns and Exford roads and opening of the new Melton Station on Tuesday 1 September.
