With Parkdale now level crossing free, the new station open and parts of the open space ready for you to enjoy, we’ve started transplanting trees back to Parkdale.
Before construction, we temporarily relocated 80 young trees from Parkdale to a nearby nursery, where they were shown some love and cared for while we got on with works.
Now construction is complete, they’re making their way back home.
You’ll start to see the trees replanted in the south-side of Parkdale’s open space towards White Street.
In September and October last year, we also returned Parkdale’s iconic palms to Como Parade West.
The rest of the 100,000 saplings, shrubs and grasses will be planted after the summer heat, to give plants the best chance to thrive.
The Frankston Line will be level crossing free by 2029 transforming the way locals live, work and travel.
