The wait is almost over, with the first Melbourne-bound train departing the brand-new Melton Station at 5:07am on Tuesday 1 September.
When services return to the Ballarat, Ararat and Maryborough lines, passengers at Melton will step into the new accessible station, with a 16m wide through link providing lift and stair access to the platforms and better connections to either side of the station.
To thank community members for their patience, the team will host up to 22 free walking tours of the new Melton Station throughout September and October. Everyone is welcome, with the chance to meet the construction team, learn more about the project, see the new modern and accessible station, and find out what features are still to come as work continues across the precinct.
The guided tours start near the rail bridge on Exford Road and run for approximately 45 minutes. Bookings are required so secure your spot via the trybooking website.
Customer service and toilet facilities will remain at the temporary station while finishing works continue across the precinct, including construction of the new 7-bay bus interchange, station facilities, forecourts and landscaping, until early 2027.
The tours will also cover the upcoming temporary closure of Coburns Road at the level crossing, from 1am, Sunday 6 September to 7am, Thursday 24 September, as crews remove the redundant rail track and reconstruct the road and footpath.

With the level crossings at Hopkins Road in Truganina and Ferris Road in Melton already gone for good, the new modern and accessible Melton Station will open and the boom gates will be gone at Coburns and Exford roads making Melton level crossing free on Tuesday 1 September.
The Melton Line will soon be able to carry more passengers, with 2 of the 4 new platforms at Melton Station built for longer 9-car VLocity trains that will be able to run on the line from next year, boosting capacity by 50% on peak services.
