Works blitz underway to build new Ferris Road bridge

It's been all hands on deck as crews work around the clock to finish building the new Ferris Road bridge and remove the level crossing.

The road is temporarily closed at the level crossing, with the new bridge over the rail line set to open on Wednesday 15 July, boosting safety and easing congestion for the more than 16,000 drivers that travelled through the crossing each day.

Concrete barriers and new kerbing have been installed. Next, crews will connect the road bridge to the existing road north and south of the level crossing. They’ll also complete lighting, traffic signals and drainage work, and the pedestrian footpaths.

Melton will be level crossing free this year, with works continuing on new rail bridges at nearby Coburns and Exford roads, as well as the new Melton Station.
