Victoria’s Big Build is ramping up over December, January and February, with significant work happening over the remainder of summer on several Major Road Projects Victoria upgrades from Eltham to Sunbury.
Craigieburn Road Upgrade
Construction crews on the Craigieburn Road Upgrade will be working around-the-clock from 10 January until the end of February, with the road closed between Hanson Road and Hume Highway, as we build extra lanes.
Traffic lights are also replacing the roundabout at Hardy Avenue to allow traffic to flow more smoothly to and from an improved Hume Highway-Craigieburn Road intersection.
When this intensive major works period wraps up, drivers can look forward to better access to the Hume from Craigieburn Road.
Adding more through and turning lanes at Hume Highway-Craigieburn Road will help clear congestion at the suburb’s busiest intersection, with approximately 50,000 motorists moving through this critical juncture every day.
Drivers are being warned of up to 20-minute delays and follow the detour signs.
Sunbury Road Upgrade
Throughout January and February, Lancefield Road and Sunbury Road intersection will be shut as part of works on the Sunbury Road Upgrade. Traffic lights are replacing the roundabout to allow traffic to flow more smoothly to and from the existing Sunbury town centre and Goonawarra.
Fitzsimons Lane Upgrade
Across Eltham and Templestowe, lane closures and speed reductions continue as required at Main Road, Porter Street, Williamsons Road and Foote Street as we complete works. There will be night works at Williamsons Road and Foote Street in December and January, with detours in place at times.
Bridge Inn Road Upgrade and Epping Road Upgrade
There will be lane closures, speed reductions, local road closures, cyclist and pedestrian detours in place at times for the Bridge Inn Road and Epping Road Upgrades.
Mickleham Road Upgrade
Stage 1 of the nearby Mickleham Road Upgrade will mean changed traffic conditions including reduced speed limits, lane closures and temporary traffic barriers on Mickleham and Somerton roads.
