The Thompsons Road and Berwick-Cranbourne Road Intersection Upgrade is now open to traffic – 7 months ahead of schedule.
The roundabout has been replaced with traffic lights, improving traffic flow for the 47,000 motorists who use the intersection each day.
The project has also delivered additional approach lanes and upgraded bus infrastructure, providing safer travel options for pedestrians and cyclists.
The upgrade saw more than 120 direct jobs and 297 indirect jobs created during construction.
The nearby Clyde Road Upgrade is also on track to open 7 months ahead of schedule. It will widen the Princes Freeway overpass from 6 to 10 lanes, easing travel for 30,000 vehicles using the road each day.
The upgrade adds to a run of completed projects across Melbourne’s south east, including O’Shea Road, Thompsons Road, Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road, Hall Road and Western Port Highway.
