Children from Yarraleen Preschool will be getting their hands dirty as part of some nature play and outdoor learning when they start planting native trees and shrubs this year.
The Bulleen preschool successfully applied for a $6000 grant from the North East Community Fund to landscape part of their outdoor area.
Preschool director Heidi Graham said they will work with a local nursery to select native plants for the landscaping, and the children will gain valuable lessons by being a part of the planting process and nurturing the new garden.
Yarraleen Preschool was one of 50 successful applicants in the first round of the North East Community Fund, which will provide a total of $10 million to community groups and organisations and will help deliver exciting new initiatives and projects.
