From 8pm, Thursday 18 June to 5am, Friday 19 June and from 8pm, Friday 19 June through to 8pm, Sunday 21 June Ballan Road will be closed from the Ballan/McGrath/Greens roads intersection to Bolton Road.
During this time, we will upgrade the road surface along the north of Ballan Road, relocate safety barriers, complete line marking and install signs to switch traffic onto the new lanes on the north.
The road closure and night works will allow us to reopen Ballan Road by Monday morning 22 June, to keep traffic moving on the busy route between Manor Lakes and Werribee.
Additional travel time of 30 minutes is expected.
We’ve contacted impacted residents with a notification on how to access their properties during this time.

Intersection closure detour map

From 5am, Monday 22 June until early 2027, we’ll close McGrath Road south and Greens Road at Ballan Road to build the second half of the new intersection. The temporary roundabout will be removed and Ballan Road will be 1 lane in each direction. McGrath Road north will be reopened with left in/left out only at Ballan Road.
Building the intersection in halves enables us to keep traffic flowing on Ballan Road for the majority of construction.
During this time, vehicles will not be able to enter McGrath Road south or Greens Road from Ballan Road or exit from McGrath Road south or Greens Road onto Ballan Road. Allow additional travel time of up to 20 minutes.
Access to homes will be maintained via Honour Avenue for Greens Road, and via Cambridge Crescent – Yaltara Drive – Kiandra Way for McGrath Road south. Alternative route via Armstrong Road and Black Forest Road.
Access to the medical clinic, pharmacy, 7-Eleven and Ultra Tune will be maintained with both the Ballan Road and McGrath Road south shop driveways open.
There will be detours in place for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles to help you move around the area.
