When we upgrade main roads by adding new lanes, it’s important to restrict where cars can turn right (across multiple lanes) into or out of driveways and side roads.
These changes improve safety for road users and lower the risk and severity of crashes, and greatly improve traffic flow by directing traffic to designated intersections, preventing drivers from attempting risky and uncontrolled movements.
Once the upgrade is complete, some local roads and property access will be changed to left in and left out only.
Right turns and U-turns will only be allowed at the closest intersection with traffic lights, or dedicated U-turn bays to access certain streets and properties.
Hall and Young streets
To access Cooper Street from Hall or Young streets:
- turn left onto High Street and do a U-turn at the Park Street traffic lights.
To access Hall or Young streets from High Street:
- head north and turn left onto Hall or Young streets; or
- head south on High Street and turn right at Park Street, then left onto Duffy Street and left onto Hall or Young streets; or
- head south on High Street, do a U-turn at the Memorial Drive traffic lights and turn left onto Hall or Young streets.
De Rossi Boulevard
To access Epping Road from Sunfield Drive or Belknap Street:
- turn left onto De Rossi Boulevard and do a U-turn at the roundabout on Highpark Drive.
To access Belknap Street or Sunfield Drive from De Rossi Boulevard:
- head west and turn left onto Sunfield Drive or Belknap Street; or
- head east along De Rossi Boulevard and Pine Park Drive and do a U-turn at the Pine Park Drive and Allendale Avenue roundabout.
High Street service road
We’ll also permanently change access to High Street service road to left in and left out from High Street.
Once the road upgrade is complete, access to High Street service road from Park Street will be permanently closed.
High Street service road will become one-way only and accessible from High Street from the new entry point at Park Street. There’ll be 2 exit points on to High Street available.
Epping Road service road
We’ll also permanently change access to Epping Road service road to left in and left out from Epping Road.
Once the road upgrade is complete, access to the service road from Hayston Boulevard will be permanently closed.
Epping Road service road will become one-way only and access to and from Epping Road will be via a new entry point near Minerva Rise, and a new exit point north of Hayston Boulevard.
