Remaining finishing works

Now major construction is complete, we’re finishing minor works such as landscaping and turning on the permanent streetlights. These should be completed by early 2025, after which we’ll lift speed limits to 80km/h on Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road.

New lanes added almost distancing 10km
10 intersections upgraded with traffic lights and additional lanes
Over 9kms of shared walking and cycling paths built

As part of the Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road Upgrade, we’ve also:

added 2 new service roads
new pedestrian-operated traffic lights near Hunt Club Boulevard
added around 15 kms of safety barriers.

This upgrade means that motorists can now use Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road to travel north from South Gippsland Highway, reducing traffic on Cranbourne’s High Street and improving how you travel through Cranbourne.

Timeline

The upgrade was completed in October 2024.

We’ve built 10 kms of new lanes between South Gippsland Highway and Thompsons Road. There’s now at least 2 lanes in each direction from South Gippsland Highway in Cranbourne all the way to Heatherton Road in Narre Warren North.

The old roundabouts at the Thompsons Road and Berwick-Cranbourne Road intersections have gone. We’ve widened the intersections with extra through and turning lanes and installed traffic lights to help get more vehicles through these busy intersections during peak times, more safely.
