Yalukit Willam and Wodyullul Parring Bridges

Two 1970s pedestrian bridges over the West Gate Freeway were replaced with wider, safer crossings, to link communities north and south of the freeway.

Following a public naming competition with nearly 250 submissions, the bridge between South Kingsville and Yarraville is called Woduyullul Parring, meaning ‘many paths’ in the Traditional Owners’ language. The bridge between Brooklyn and Altona North is named Yalukit Willam, after the local Indigenous clan.
