West Gate Neighbourhood Fund

More than 270 community projects have been funded through the West Gate Neighbourhood Fund, making a difference to communities in the west.

The $10 million fund is a Victorian Government initiative to support community projects in the Hobsons Bay and Maribyrnong City Council areas. A wide range of projects have been funded, including events that celebrate heritage, history or diversity, and those that focus on arts and culture, emphasise learning and development, or enable greater participation of community members.

A new floating pontoon for Williamstown Jetty — Williamstown and Newport Anglers Club members can now enjoy the newly refurbished Williamstown Jetty.

New uniforms for all — Ahead of their centenary year, Newport Bowls Club Ladies Pavilion roof was upgraded and internal facilities improved.

New cricket equipment — Newport Digman Cricket Club purchased new equipment for both senior and junior players.

KPI Sports Girls Mini World Cup — New soccer goals and a successful junior soccer tournament for female participants at the KPI Sports Girls Cup.

Yarraville Glory Socer Club — New clubrooms for Yarraville Glory Soccer Club include two Football Victoria-standard female-friendly changerooms.

Discovery Day – 16 November 2025

On 16 November 2025, over 51,000 people registered for the West Gate Tunnel Discovery Day – a once-in-a-generation opportunity to run or walk the new road before it opened to traffic.
