GROW program

In collaboration with Workforce Australia funded employment services, the GROW program empowers First Peoples (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) to pursue meaningful careers in the transport and transport infrastructure industry.

Through career pathway awareness building, job readiness training and networking opportunities, the program equips participants with the skills and confidence to explore sustainable career pathways in a supportive and culturally safe environment.

The GROW program is delivered by Training for the Future, a Level Crossing Removal Project initiative.

Program highlights

Career planning: Work with your funded employment services to map out your aspirations and align your interests with industry-specific career goals.
Participate in a funded culturally strong pre-employment program delivered by an Aboriginal business with proven ability to support candidates to build confidence and identify their career pathways to success.
Employer pitching sessions: Meet directly with industry employers and showcase your skills and interests.
Post program support: Gain access to future job opportunities and receive follow-up support to stay on track.

Eligibility

To participate in the program, it is important participants:

have an interest in working in the transport and transport infrastructure industry
demonstrate a positive and open attitude
are job ready with an up-to-date resume
are willing to travel early to training venues as required.

Participants: First Peoples currently engaged with a Workforce Australia funded employment service, who are looking to take the next step toward a real career opportunity in the industry.
Industry employers: Employers committed to supporting First Peoples to grow, thrive, and contribute to a diverse and culturally rich workforce.

'Through the Kangan Institute which I did a short course with, at the end of that the GROW Program was mentioned and introduced to us, and so I took the opportunity to take that up and do a rail ticket and was able to obtain a position here at the Cherry Street crossing removal.'
