Training for the Future

The Training for the Future program has ended and will not be accepting new participants.

Training for the Future is a rail industry skills program to prepare Australians to deliver an unprecedented amount of work on the Melbourne rail network over the next 10 years and beyond.

It is delivered by the Level Crossing Removal Project with input from transport industry leaders.

Overview

Our Training for the Future program will result in a new generation of rail talent for Victoria. It will provide opportunities to re-skill people with relevant experience from industries in decline, as well as training people from disadvantaged communities.

The key elements of Training for the Future include:

This initiative is led by the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP), with input from:

Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM)
V/Line
Department of Transport and Planning (DTP)
Metro Tunnel Project (formerly Rail Projects Victoria)
VicTrack
Yarra Trams
Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA).

There is currently a large pipeline of work on major rail projects for Melbourne, including the removal of 110 level crossings and the Metro Tunnel Project.
