See inside Metro Tunnel's design warehouse

The Metro Tunnel Project’s design team is finalising the architectural elements for the 5 new underground stations – Arden, Parkville, State Library, Town Hall and Anzac – inside the old Footscray Flower Market.

Inside the warehouse is a mock train station with architectural elements from each of the underground stations. This provides an insight into how the finished stations will look when they open in 2025.

There is a station concourse, ticket gates, seating and customer help points. There is also a replica of the cathedral-like arched ceilings at the 2 new CBD stations, State Library and Town Hall.

For 3 years, teams of architects, designers and engineers have tested all these elements. This is to make sure that everything has been designed and crafted to the highest standards.

Some of these design elements have already been installed across the stations. This includes light fittings, ceiling systems and platform screen doors – a first for the Victorian rail network.
