Planning is underway for the potential future Barwon Heads Road Upgrade – Stage 2.

We’re exploring potential options to improve safety, increase the capacity of the road, make your journey more reliable and make it easier to walk and cycle in the area. As part of our investigations, we’re looking at potential solutions to:

  • continue the upgrade of Barwon Heads Road from Reserve Road, Charlemont to Lower Duneed Road, Armstrong Creek
  • add more lanes
  • upgrade key intersections
  • build cycling and walking paths to improve connectivity.

Planning and development

We’re undertaking planning and development work to inform the potential future Barwon Heads Road Upgrade – Stage 2. This includes traffic modelling, environmental and site investigations, planning and social studies.

This will give us a complete picture of the area, allow us to understand environmental and social impacts, develop design options, and confirm scope and costs of different options.

Have your say

We’re seeking feedback from the community and local businesses to help inform our planning and shape the development of design options.

We want to know how you currently use the road, your views on safety and traffic flow, any concerns you have, and what we should consider in our planning.

To have your say, visit Engage Victoria and complete an online survey or drop a pin on the interactive map by Sunday 12 February 2023.

A Business Case is currently being developed and our work is expected to be complete later this year. The Business Case is a comprehensive document that will provide a detailed examination of the potential future upgrade to help inform government decision-making. It will evaluate the benefit, cost and risk of different options and provide a rationale for a preferred design solution.
