Traffic and transport

Oversized deliveries

While most deliveries to the Anzac Station site will occur during normal hours, some deliveries to and from site that are classified as ‘oversized’ will be required outside of normal working hours and overnight. Whenever oversized deliveries are expected overnight, crews will be reminded of noise requirements on site.

Albert Road

The one way Albert Road southern connection to St Kilda Road is now open.

  • There is two way access between Albert Road and 1 Albert Road (The Domain's) driveway
  • There is one way access from 1 Albert Road (The Domain's) driveway to St Kilda Road
  • This section of road is a shared zone by both vehicles and pedestrians, with right of way for pedestrians
  • Once Anzac Station is operational the pull in bay adjacent to the station lifts will function as a short-term disabled drop off bay
  • Prior to the operation of the station, this drop off bay will remain fenced off, and act as a materials drop off area for the site

Domain Road

Domain Road has reopened to traffic and cyclists between St Kilda Road and Dallas Brooks Drive.

  • The left turn from St Kilda Road to Domain Road is open.
  • The right and left turn from Domain Road to St Kilda Road is open.
  • Please follow the traffic signals, signage and line marking in place.
  • The footpath on both sides of Domain Road and pedestrian crossings at St Kilda Road are open.
  • The pedestrian crossing on Domain Road remains closed, and will reopen at a later date.
  • On street parking is available along Domain Road, where signed.

The Route 58 tram will continue to run along Toorak Road West, providing a shorter and direct path to St Kilda Road and maintaining the same platform interchange for citybound passengers at the Anzac Station tram stop.

Edmund Herring Oval reinstatement

The reinstatement of Edmund Herring Oval will continue in November with some lane closures required:

  • The eastbound lane of Domain Road, between St Kilda Road and Dallas Brooks Drive, will be closed on on 7 November
  • The westbound lane will be closed on 8 November
  • These closures will be from 9am to 3pm
  • A detour will be in place via Park Street, Toorak Road and St Kilda Road

Changes to bus routes 603, 605 and 605

From 17 November 2024, passengers on bus routes 603, 604 and 605 will have new timetables and changes to bus routes.

When the Metro Tunnel opens in 2025, new routes 604 and 605 will connect bus, tram and train services at Anzac Station for the first time. This will allow passengers to connect with the train for quick access to Melbourne CBD, opening more travel opportunities.
