We’re removing the level crossing at Coolstore Road, Croydon, which allows us to transform the heart of Croydon by building a new transport hub.
We’ll remove the level crossing by building a rail bridge over the road. We’ll also build a new, premium Croydon Station, with two entrances, improved safety and access and modern facilities for passengers.
The new Croydon transport hub will also improve traffic flow by removing the congested roundabout at Coolstore Road and creating new road connections through the town centre. A new bus interchange will also be built, providing easier and safer connections to the station for passengers.
More than 10,000 vehicles a day travel across the level crossing, with more than 100 trains passing through every weekday.
Works will start in 2023 and finish in 2025 when the Lilydale Line will be level crossing free, changing the way people live, work and travel.

We’ve released early concept designs and want to hear from the community about key elements of rail bridge and station precinct design. View the early concept designs and have your say at Engage Victoria.

The virtual room displays written and visual materials including maps, early concept designs, downloadable fact sheets and a video.
