We’ve removed the dangerous and congested level crossing at Coolstore Road, Croydon and built a new road connection under the rail line between Kent Avenue and Lacey Street.

The new road connection has replaced the congested Coolstore Road roundabout and connected Croydon’s town centre and made it easier for pedestrians to cross the rail line.

The new Croydon Station will open to passengers on Monday 12 August, with finishing works on the new station and transport hub and remaining new road connections continuing into spring. The new station will have 2 entrances and forecourts, improved safety, and modern facilities.

The new Croydon Transport Hub will make it easier to get where you need to go and provide a modern and safe Croydon Station precinct.

A new, streamlined bus interchange will also be built, making it easier and safer for commuters to connect between bus and train services.

With the Coolstore Road, Croydon level crossing now gone, the Lilydale Line is the first train line in Melbourne to be level crossing free.
