The crossing was removed by building the first of 2 road bridges over the rail line.

The Thompsons Road Upgrade includes widening Thompsons Road to 3 lanes in each direction between Marriott Boulevard and the South Gippsland Highway.

On behalf of the Victorian Government, the Level Crossing Removal Project is removing 110 dangerous and congested level crossings across Melbourne by 2030.
