PLANNING

Point Cook Road Upgrade

We're planning for a future upgrade of Point Cook Road, between Jamieson Way and Dunnings Road.

Overview

We’re planning for a future upgrade of Point Cook Road, between Jamieson Way and Dunnings Road in Point Cook to improve safety and increase road capacity to cater for population growth.

Options being explored include:

  • adding more lanes
  • upgrading intersections
  • building cycling and walking paths.

Planning and development

Planning work includes traffic modelling, engineering designs, construction assessments, economic modelling, and environmental investigations.

This work will give us a complete picture of the area, allow us to understand environmental and social impacts, develop project options, and determine costs of different options to help inform government decision-making.

A business case will be developed to provide a detailed examination of the future road upgrade to help inform government decisions on funding.

We expect our initial planning work will be complete in early 2027.

Site investigations

To help inform planning, a range of site investigations will be undertaken. At times, we may need to implement traffic control measures, including temporary lane closures, stop/slow traffic and reduced speeds. Traffic disruption will be kept to a minimum and busy periods will be avoided, where possible.

Community feedback

From 20 April to 10 May 2026, we asked for community feedback via Engage Victoria to help inform our planning. Thank you to everyone who took the time to provide feedback

We’ll share a summary of feedback received later this year.
