New stabling facility

We have upgraded the Shepparton Line to provide more reliable services and allow modern VLocity trains to travel to and from Shepparton for the first time.

The VLocity is the newest and fastest train in the V/Line fleet. It has mobile signal boosters for better phone coverage and better accessibility for people with prams or mobility aids.

We’re building a new stabling facility to house the VLocity trains.

What is train stabling?

Train drivers park their trains in stabling facilities while they are not in use.

While the trains are in the facility, they are cleaned and prepared to begin service on time the next day.

Shepparton stabling facility

Acciona Rail and KBR have been working with Regional Rail Revival and V/Line to build a new stabling facility as part of Stage 2 of the Shepparton Line Upgrade and make it larger as part of Stage 3. This will provide more stabling for VLocity trains and support more services.

The Shepparton stabling facility will include:

stabling roads for VLocity trains
fuelling facilities
staff car parking
staff amenities building
CCTV and lighting
signalling and communication systems.

Stabling facility location

The stabling facility is being built in an industrial area 3 kilometres north of Shepparton Station. This location means stabling tracks can remain within the rail corridor and further track upgrades are not needed.

Regional Rail Revival will ensure the project is completed in line with planning approval requirements to minimise any impacts of the facility on the surrounding area.
