Footscray Road veloway installation (May - August 2024)
Construction will kick off on the new 2.5-kilometre veloway for cyclists above Footscray Road.
The veloway will be built above Footscray Road with the structure of the cycling path attached to the underside of the new elevated road above Footscray Road.
Crews will now begin to install segments that will form the new veloway from May.
To do the work safely, lanes will be closed on Footscray Road between Appleton Dock Road and Shepherd Bridge, with some impacts on Sims Street and Dock Link Road. There will also be overnight closures of Footscray Road required at times.

Plan ahead
We acknowledge this period can be disruptive and thank the community for their patience as we complete this major stage of works.
When the veloway is complete, cyclists will have a safe and uninterrupted journey between Footscray and the city, and will no longer have to cross a number of busy entries and exits to the port. Following project completion, cyclists will still have the option to use the on-ground Footscray Road walking and cycling path.
