The Koornang Road level crossing was removed in February 2018 as part of the Caulfield to Dandenong Level Crossing Removal Project, which removed 9 level crossings and built 5 new stations.

By constructing an elevated rail line, the project has opened up 22.5 hectares of open space and parkland for the community.
