The Mascot Avenue, Bonbeach Level Crossing closed in February 2020.
Trains now travel along an elevated rail bridge, stopping at the new Carrum Station.
A new direct connection from McLeod Road to Nepean Highway has opened underneath, creating safer connections for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.
During early community consultation for the Carrum Level Crossing Removal Project we heard that locals wanted Station Street connected across Patterson River.
A new road bridge was added to the scope of works and opened to traffic in September 2018, creating a more direct road network and enabling the closure of the Mascot Avenue, Bonbeach level crossing.
Works on 4 new community open spaces as part of Carrum’s $50 million revitalisation are also complete.
The closure of this level crossing coincided with the removal and closure of level crossings at Station Street, Carrum and Eel Race Road, Carrum.
