Detailed development work is underway in preparation for major upgrades at Sunshine Station, preparing the transport hub for trains to Melbourne Airport and future upgrades to the rail network in Melbourne’s west.
Sunshine Station is where the Geelong, Ballarat and Bendigo lines merge with the metropolitan and freight networks.
A redevelopment of Sunshine Station is being planned and is , expected to include:
- additional platforms
- track works
- bridge works
- signalling improvements.
The improvements untangle this complex junction and allow airport trains to travel through.
It will also prepare the station for future upgrades to the rail network in Melbourne’s west.
Timing and costs for these upgrades will be determined as part of detailed development work.
