We’ll close the Eastern Freeway in both directions between Bulleen Road and Springvale Road from 10pm, Friday 14 August to 5am, Monday 17 August. During this closure crews will:
- lift and install a large structure that forms part of the citybound entry ramp from new North East Link tunnels to Eastern Freeway
- continue building new noise walls along the freeway and on the elevated ramps
- upgrade freeway traffic technology, install underground drainage and utility infrastructure and begin preparation works for new overhead freeway overhead signage
- continue pavement, asphalt and concrete works.
Delays up to 90 minutes are expected during peak travel periods. On-road signage will be in place to guide motorists and commuters through the area.
Two-way detours in place via:
- Bulleen Road, Templestowe Road, Reynolds Road and Springvale Road
- Bulleen Road, Manningham Road, Doncaster Road and Springvale Road
- Bulleen Road, Doncaster Road and Springvale Road
Citybound detours in place via:
- Maroondah Highway, Whitehorse Road and Burke Road.
* If you are travelling to the city or airport, consider using alternative arterials including the Monash Freeway or the M80.
*EastLink will be closed between Springvale Road and Canterbury Road from 8pm, Saturday 15 August to 7pm, Sunday 16 August for maintenance works.
During this closure, the following ramps will be closed to help ease traffic congestion:
- Entry and exit ramps between Bulleen Road and Springvale Road
- Chandler Highway (Ringwood-bound entry ramp).
To ease traffic congestion, we have put no parking or stopping restrictions along:
- Doncaster Road between Burke Road and Cityview Road
- High Street, Box Hill.
We’ll also close off some right-hand turns:
*No right turn from Manningham Road into Thompsons Road.
*No right turn from Station Street southbound into Whitehorse Road westbound.
We’ll also close Thompsons Road between Bulleen Road and Thompsons Road Ringwood-bound entry ramp to the Eastern Freeway.
Northbound detour via:
- Bulleen Road and Manningham Road.
Southbound Detour via:
- Bulleen Road, Doncaster Road, High Street and Manningham Road.
During this weekend closure we'll close Winfield Road at Doncaster Road from to complete drainage works.
Detours in place:
- eastbound: Winfield Road, Abbott Street and Greythorn Road
- westbound: Winfield Road, Leicester Street and Greythorn Road.
