We’ll close the Eastern Freeway in both directions between Bulleen Road and Springvale Road from 10pm, Friday 3 July to 5am, Monday 6 July. During this closure, crews will:
- carry out a major Mega Lift to install large steel beams that will connect the North East Link tunnels to the Eastern Freeway
- install drainage in multiple locations under the freeway
- continue building pedestrian underpasses and new noise walls
- install underground cables to support new traffic management technology
- lay asphalt to build new freeway lanes.
Delays up to 90 minutes are expected. On-road signage will be in place to guide motorists and commuters through the area.
During this closure:
- Thompsons Road will be closed in both directions between Bulleen Road and the Thompsons Road Ringwood-bound entry ramp, with detours in place.
- Key detours will be in place via Doncaster, Bulleen, Manningham, Tram, Whitehorse and Springvale roads. An additional northern detour will be available via Reynolds and Templestowe roads.
- Temporary changes to some bus services and bus stops will be in place during the weekend closure.
- Additional traffic management measures, including signal adjustments, right turn bans and detour routes, will support traffic movements during the closure.
