We’ll close the Eastern Freeway in both directions between Chandler Highway and Tram Road from 10pm, Friday 19 June to 5am, Monday 22 June. During this closure crews will:
- asphalt new freeway lanes
- remove kerbs along Bulleen Road bridge
- continue building noise walls between Bulleen and Elgar Roads
- realign Burke Road Ringwood-bound exit ramp
- remove gantries and high mast lights between Chandler Highway and Burke Road.
Delays up to 90 minutes are expected. On-road signage will be in place to guide motorists and commuters through the area.
Detours in place via:
- Citybound: Tram Road, Doncaster Road, High Street and Studley Park Road
- Ringwood-bound: Earl Street, High Street, Doncaster Road and Tram Road
- 2-way detour: Tram Road, Manningham Road, Lower Heidelberg Road and Heidelberg Road
* If you are travelling to the city or airport, consider using alternative arterials including the Monash Freeway or the M80.
During this closure, the following ramps will be closed to help ease traffic congestion:
- Hoddle Street southbound (Ringwood-bound entry ramp)
- Chandler Highway (Ringwood-bound entry ramp)
- Middleborough Road (citybound entry ramps)
- Blackburn Road (citybound entry ramps)
- Springvale Road (citybound entry ramps)
To ease traffic congestion, we have put no parking or stopping restrictions along:
- Doncaster Road in both directions between Burke Road and Cityview Road
- Heidelberg Road between Lowther Street and Yaralee Street
- High Street prior to Valerie/High Street/ Harp Road intersection.
We’ll also reduce lanes onto the Eastern Freeway from Alexander Parade and Hoddle Street northbound and close off some right-hand turns.
We’ll also close Thompsons Road between Bulleen Road and Thompsons Road Ringwood-bound entry ramp to complete concreting works during the weekend closure.
Northbound detour via:
- Bulleen Road and Manningham Road.
Southbound Detour via:
- Bulleen Road, Doncaster Road, High Street and Manningham Road.
Closure of walking and cycling paths
- We’ll close the walking and cycling bridges at Estelle Street and Heyington Avenue from 10pm, Friday 12 June to 5am, Monday 15 June while crews install variable speed limit signage.
- We’ll close the walking and cycling pathat Belford Road from 10pm, Friday 12 June to 5am, Monday 15 June while crews complete bridge strengthening works.
