All outbound lanes between Millers Road and the M80 interchange will take you to Ballarat and Geelong.
Inner lanes
Use the inner dedicated lanes for an easier journey to M80 and Princes Freeway
From the inner lanes drivers will need to stay on:
- The left lanes to get to the M80 Ring Road (Ballarat-bound)
- The right lanes for the Princes Freeway (Geelong-bound)
Outer lanes
Use the outer left most lanes to exit at Millers Road and Grieve Parade.
- The left lanes will take you to Princes Freeway (Geelong-bound)
- The right lane will take you to M80 (Ballarat-bound).
Remember to follow the signs for these exits.
As you travel towards the city,
- Stick to the inner lanes for a quicker and easier journey from the M80 Ring Road or Princes Freeway to the West Gate Bridge
- Use the left most lanes to get to Millers Road and Williamstown Road exits.
Drivers can take any lane to exit at Williamstown Road but the left lanes will be an easier journey.
Whether you are travelling from the M80 or Princes Freeway, all inbound lanes will take drivers to the West Gate Bridge.
Make sure you follow the permanent green overhead signs on the lanes you are travelling - choose your lane early and avoid last minute lane changes. There will also be electronic signage and directional arrow markings to guide you on your approach.
There’s still more work to be done, as crews continue to widen the West Gate Freeway from 8 to 12 through lanes. Some lanes will need to be connected into the twin tunnels, which will in turn be linked to the new bridge across the Maribyrnong River, the elevated road above Footscray Rd and the new city connections.
The project will be completed and open for use by end 2025.
