We removed the Hallam Road level crossing by elevating the rail line over the road.
We also built a brand-new Hallam Station with improved accessibility, and featuring a new station forecourt with covered waiting areas, a Parkiteer bike cage, toilets, and improved lighting and CCTV. The car park was also upgraded and includes more accessible parking, new drop-off zones, and a taxi rank.
A new walking and cycling path connecting Glencairn Avenue to the station’s eastern entrance was also opened as part of the project.
Planned timeline
Early works started in October 2020, the Hallam Road level crossing was removed in April 2022 and the project was completed in mid 2022.
