Why this closure is needed
Crews will be widening and strengthening the existing bridge as part of building new connections from the West Gate Tunnel to the city and CityLink.
Carrying out works over the course of a month will enable works to be finished sooner and safely, for the local community and our crews.
Temporary closures of rail lines- impacts on Craigieburn and Upfield Metro train services
To facilitate these works, there will be temporary closures of the rail lines below the bridge. Buses will replace trains on sections of the Craigieburn and Upfield lines at various times in late November and December.
During this time, train replacement buses will operate from North Melbourne Station.Public transport users are encouraged to check before they travel by visiting the Public Transport Victoria website.
Residents and businesses
If you live close to Dynon Road, you may hear construction noise during the day and at night. We’ll be monitoring impacts to ensure they’re kept to a minimum, and we will work closely with local residents and businesses to respond quickly to queries and requests about noise.
Detours, traffic management and signage will be in place to guide road users, cyclists and pedestrians during the closure.
