New modelling shows people right across Melbourne and Victoria will have faster, easier journeys when SRL East opens in 2035.
The new SRL East Travel Time Estimates report shows how Victorians will use SRL to save time:
- A student from Bayswater will travel to Monash University in just 37 minutes – saving 15 minutes on public transport – with a simple changeover at Box Hill.
- A nurse from Carrum working at Box Hill Hospital will save 17 minutes on public transport.
- A lecturer living in Coburg will travel to Monash in 64 minutes – taking trains the whole way – via Metro Tunnel, changing at State Library and Clayton.
- A family from Dandenong needing to get to Box Hill will cut their public transport journey by 30 minutes.
In many instances, SRL will also be quicker than driving:
- A student from Cranbourne travelling to Deakin University will save 27 minutes on public transport and 24 minutes compared to driving.
- A student from Narre Warren will get to Deakin University in just 40 minutes, saving 24 minutes on public transport and 21 minutes compared to driving.
- Cheltenham to Monash will take just 10 minutes, compared to around 30 minutes driving.
No matter where you live, SRL means faster and easier journeys.
SRL East from Cheltenham to Box Hill will be used by 70,000 passengers a day – getting them to work, school or home faster and taking thousands of cars off the road. And, as Australia’s largest housing project, it will deliver more homes and housing choice in the areas around the stations – on the doorstep of world-class transport, jobs and services.
