RMIT, meet State Library Station

When the Metro Tunnel opens later this year, the new State Library Station will make it easier than ever to get to class.

Catch the train to class

If you’re travelling on the Cranbourne, Pakenham or Sunbury lines, you’ll travel through the new Metro Tunnel and get off at State Library Station.
If you’re travelling on the Williamstown, Werribee or Sandringham lines, you can change to the Sunbury Line at Footscray or Flinders Street stations.
If you’re travelling on any of Melbourne’s other train lines, you’ll continue to get off at Melbourne Central Station.
Melbourne Central and State Library stations are connected, so you can transfer between stations without having to touch off your Myki.

More ways to move

New transport connections and upgrades around State Library Station will make your commute a little easier, no matter how you travel.

Access Swanston and La Trobe Street trams Located right outside station entrances. There's also a recently upgraded tram stop on La Trobe Street, right outside the station’s main entrance.
Wider streets and lower speed limits To make walking safer and easier.
170 bike parking spaces 64 of them new, along with protected bike lanes on Franklin Street make cycling safer and easier.

State Library Station’s entrances get you where you need to go

The main entrance on the corner of La Trobe and Swanston streets is directly across from Storey Hall (Building 16) and Study@RMIT (Building 22).
The entrance on the corner of Franklin and Swanston streets connects you with the Gillespie Building (Building 12), the Media Portal (Building 14) and the College of Business and Law (Building 80).
Both entrances provide a short walking distance to either end of Bowen Street.
