The SRL Community Projects Fund has been established to support initiatives both big and small that build on current community needs while ensuring SRL Precincts are ready for the changes over time that will accompany the new rail line.
Several funding rounds will be offered each year during construction of SRL East. The first CPF funding round is for Community Support Grants. These grants are awarded for grassroots community projects, such as resources for local organisations and the improvement of existing facilities.
Yes. The SRL Community Projects Fund will offer future support for different types of projects – big and small – as we get on with SRL East construction.
Community groups, not-for-profits, sports clubs and schools were eligible to apply for grants between $10,000 and $80,000 for their fantastic local initiatives. Groups not incorporated were also able to apply with the assistance of an eligible auspice organisation.
Applications are now closed. To find out more about future opportunities to apply for the SRL Community Projects Fund, subscribe to our eNews.
You will need to provide details of your project and its benefits to the community, a project plan, budget and evidence of support from relevant stakeholders like council, a school or other landowner. You may need other project documentation like your organisation’s Certificate of Incorporation, evidence of your Public Liability Insurance or other insurances, auspice agreement and quotes for materials needed for the project.
Before you apply, please read the Community Projects Fund Program Guidelines to make sure your project is eligible.
Community Support Grants will provide successful applicants with funding of between $10,000 and $80,000 for local projects and initiatives.
A wide range of projects will be eligible. Proposed projects should improve community connectedness, meet community needs, and enhance community cohesion by bringing people together to participate in local activities and initiatives.
To assist applicants, we will be scheduling Project Planning and Grant Writing workshops. At these sessions, an expert grant writer will provide resources, tips and other help for anyone who wants to develop a proposal for funding.
General information on applying for grants can be found here.
Applications that deliver clear benefits to SRL East Precincts (within 1600m of an SRL station), or in the vicinity of other SRL East surface infrastructure, will be considered favourably. Consideration will also be given to projects outside these areas if applicants demonstrate that projects benefit communities that live and work in these locations.
Only 1 application can be submitted per eligible project, but an organisation can apply for more than 1 project if they wish.
Co-contributions such as cash or in-kind are not mandatory but will be considered favourably during the assessment.
In-kind contributions such as donated goods, services or volunteer work can be included in your project. More information about in-kind contributions and how to calculate the value can be found here.
Following the application period closing there is a thorough process of evaluation. We will notify all applicants about the outcome of their proposal as soon as possible.
If you have a great idea, but your organisation doesn’t have the legal structure in place to enter a funding agreement directly, you can make an arrangement with another organisation to receive and manage the grant on your behalf. This arrangement is an “auspice arrangement”. It is not required if you already have the structure in place to receive grants.
Organisations that can auspice your application could include your local council or an incorporated not-for-profit organisation.
