The SRL station will deliver a direct train connection to Deakin University for the first time and open up destinations across Melbourne for Burwood locals.

The new underground station will be surrounded by vibrant community areas, with more homes and business opportunities. Tunnelling is underway, with trains taking passengers in 2035.

The station layout at Burwood will incorporate a 94m long platform with escalators in the middle of the platform.

The station will include buildings to accommodate ticketing and customer facilities and potential retail tenancies, operational equipment and rail systems, and essential emergency and safety infrastructure.

Three new safe pedestrian crossings across Burwood Highway will connect to key areas in the precinct, including Deakin University, the new tram stop on Burwood Highway and a new cycling link to the west of the station.

There will be a dedicated pick-up and drop-off area with 11 bays, and a new bus interchange adjacent to the station on Sinnott Street.

There will be 750 bike parking spaces as well as new cycling paths. A 3m wide shared cycling will run along the western boundary of the precinct and connect Gardiners Creek Trail to Bennettswood Reserve, with a cycle crossing at Burwood Highway leading onto Deakin University.

The new station platform will sit around 18m below ground level and be accessible by lifts and escalators.
