The SRL station will provide students, workers and visitors with a direct train connection for the first time to Melbourne’s largest employment and innovation hub outside of the CBD.

The station will boost economic growth, employment and housing and help attract global industry leaders. Construction is underway, with tunnelling to start in 2026 and trains taking passengers in 2035.

A draft structure plan along with Planning Scheme Amendments for Monash will go on public exhibition next year, with further opportunities for you to have your say. The structure plan is expected to be finalised in 2026.

The new train station at Monash will be located north of Monash University, between Normanby and Ferntree Gully roads. The underground station will have 2 levels and be fully accessible for all passengers via lifts and escalators.

Two entrances are proposed, with a southern entrance providing a connection to Monash University and a northern entrance providing a connection to the industrial and business precinct.

The station will include buildings for ticketing and customer facilities, potential retail spaces, extensive undercover bike parking, as well as places for operational equipment and emergency and safety infrastructure.

We are investigating opportunities to create an efficient connection between the new Suburban Rail Loop station and Monash University. The new station adjacent to the University will provide students and staff with a connection to the train network for the first time.

The new station platform will sit around 20m below ground level and be accessible by lifts and escalators.
