Forever by Danie Mellor covers the huge glass wall at the main State Library Station entrance on the corner of Swanston and La Trobe streets.
The artwork features historical photographic portraits of Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung women set in contemporary landscape imagery taken by Mellor on Wurundjeri Country. Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Elders were consulted in the development of the artwork.
The station’s service buildings on Franklin Street will also feature imagery of Wurundjeri women Elders, created by Greenshoot Consulting in collaboration with Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung elders, particularly Aunty Joy Murphy Wandin. Featuring both contemporary and historical Elders, these works celebrate the important role of women within First Peoples communities.
