Our programs are aligned to the Victorian Curriculum and the classroom workshops are developed and delivered by qualified teachers.

Planning your excursion

Metro Tunnel HQ is located at 125-133 Swanston St – right opposite the Melbourne Town Hall close to the corner of Little Collins Street. It's only a 5-minute walk from Federation Square and Flinders Street Station.

We require teachers and supervisors accompany students at a ratio of 1:20, with a minimum of 2 staff in line with the Department of Education and Training supervision requirements.

We cannot accommodate visits of more than 5 students at a time unless they are accompanied by a teacher.

We require that a teacher accompanies each group/s on their walk to and from the Town Hall Station site if that is part of their booking. Although it is only about 100m away on the corner of Collins Street, there are traffic and pedestrian crossings to negotiate, so we'd appreciate your assistance in ensuring safety as we move about 'The World's Busiest Tram Corridor'.

Duty of care

As with all school excursions, the school is responsible for the duty of care and behaviour management of all members of the school group and for providing the required number of teachers and/or authorised supervising adults to accompany the group.

Please discuss appropriate behaviour with your students to ensure that everyone can enjoy their Metro Tunnel HQ experience.

Access to onsite toilets is limited. We recommend using toilets at Flinders Street Station or Melbourne Town Hall before you start your session with us.

The Metro Tunnel Project doesn't have any role in operating the public transport system or ticketing.

Victorian primary school groups can travel free on off-peak trains, trams, coaches and buses.
